Prince To Receive Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award

Nearly a decade after his passing, Prince continues to be celebrated for his extraordinary contributions to music.

The Recording Academy has proudly revealed that Prince will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

Additionally, icons such as Frankie Beverly, Dr. Bobby Jones, Roxanne Shante, The Clash, Taj Mahal, and Frankie Valli will also be recognized.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming awards ceremony.

“It’s a remarkable honor to celebrate this eclectic group of music legends during the year’s most significant week in music. Each recipient of this year’s Special Merit Award has made a lasting impact on the musical world. From paving the way for future artists to revolutionizing the industry, we are eager to recognize their incredible achievements this February,” Mason stated.

Prince, a legendary figure in music, was a groundbreaking artist who seamlessly blended R&B, rock, funk, and pop. Over his illustrious 40-year career, Prince produced an impressive collection of more than 39 albums.

He also penned and produced chart-topping hits for Chaka Khan, Madonna, Sheila E., and Patti LaBelle. Prince was instrumental in launching the careers of The Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Carmen Electra, and numerous others.

At the 2025 Grammys, Prince has been nominated for Best Historical for his outstanding work on the “Diamonds and Pearls: Super Deluxe Edition.”

The Recording Academy’s Special Merit Awards Ceremony is set to take place at the iconic Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on February 1.

On February 2nd, the 67th Grammy Awards will broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
