Legendary R&B group New Edition will release a reissue of their fifth studio album, Heart Break, on vinyl on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

Originally released in 1988, the album will be available in standard 2LP black vinyl ($32.99) and 2LP clear vinyl ($37.99), both of which are now available for preorder.

Heart Break debuted on June 20, 1988, through MCA Records and achieved a peak position of No. 3 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.

Shortly after its launch, the album received platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for exceeding one million sales. It later achieved 2x platinum status in 1994 for surpassing two million sales in the United States.

Heart Break marks the initial album contribution from the group’s new member Johnny Gill following the departure of Bobby Brown. Coincidentally, Heart Break was released on the same day as Brown’s second solo album, Don’t Be Cruel.

The album, produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, features iconic tracks such as the Hot 100 top 10 hit “If It Isn’t Love” and “Can You Stand the Rain,” which topped Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart (now known as Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs). In 2023, “Can You Stand the Rain” received 2x platinum certification from the RIAA, while “If It Isn’t Love” was certified platinum.

Two days prior to the vinyl reissue of Heart Break, New Edition will commence the fourth extension of their residency at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.

New Edition: Las Vegas will include six additional performances, including on Valentine’s Day, with the residency concluding on February 22.

“We are excited to return to Las Vegas! The year 2024 is a milestone for all of us in New Edition as we present our first-ever residency at Encore Theater,” stated New Edition in a joint announcement.

“It has been a privilege to share our music with thousands of fans during these last 15 performances, and we look forward to creating new memories with our supporters at Wynn Las Vegas in 2025.”

The residency will showcase all members of New Edition: Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill.
