Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD foundation has initiated a relief fund aimed at assisting individuals affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.

In a social media announcement made on Sunday (January 12), BeyGOOD revealed its establishment of the LA Fire Relief Fund, along with a substantial donation of $2.5 million to support the initiative.

The foundation emphasized that the financial contributions would be specifically allocated to individuals impacted by the Eaton Fire, a wildfire that has significantly impacted the Altadena and Pasadena regions east of Los Angeles.

“Los Angeles, we stand in solidarity with you. BeyGOOD is actively addressing this crisis by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund and a donation of 2.5 million dollars,” the foundation stated on Instagram. “This fund is designated to assist families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who have lost their homes, as well as to support churches and community centers in meeting the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires.”

Severe wildfires, including the Pacific Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, commenced in Los Angeles County on Tuesday (January 7). These wildfires have resulted in at least 16 fatalities and compelled over 100,000 individuals to evacuate their residences.

While the Palisades Fire has impacted numerous celebrity residences, including that of Bey’s mother, Tina Knowles, the Eaton Fire has devastated homes and businesses within the historically Black neighborhood of Altadena.

Reports indicate that Altadena is recognized as California’s first middle-class Black community. During the Great Migration, this area served as a sanctuary for Black Americans seeking refuge from the Jim Crow South. Altadena provided Black families the opportunity to acquire land, construct homes, and establish generational wealth free from redlining and other forms of systemic oppression.
